EPI has developed a degradable film technology, which can be applied as alternative daily cover (ADC) for landfills or as a stretch wrap for municipal solid waste (MSW) bales. This technology greatly assists in overcoming or even eliminating the problems of  conventional waste management.

Conventional municipal solid waste management method involves the transportation of waste from the collection points to a landfill, placing the waste onto a working face, compaction of the waste, and covering the waste with daily cover material. A significant drawback of the conventional method is the loss of valuable airspace due to the use of earthen daily cover material and the generation of blowing litter, odors and  leachate before the waste is covered.

In EPI's technology, a specialized degradable film is applied either during waste handling or after disposal to entomb the waste. Blowing litter, odors and leachate are controlled by the impermeable film. Valuable airspace is conserved because the film occupies virtually "zero" volume. EPI's films are degradable. The entombed waste will eventually be released back to the landfill for degradation.

The two main categories of EPI's degradable films are:

  1. Enviro™ Cover, which is an alternative daily cover (ADC) in landfills, and
  2. Enviro™ Wrap, which is a bale wrap in municipal solid waste baling sites and balefills.

EPI's degradable films are distributed solely by EPI's licensed waste management distributors and agents. Please contact us for your local EPI representative.
